I’ve got the magic in M.E.

David Minkin awed a full house on Friday Night with his, literally, unbelievable magic.

I took my non-LMU friend to the show, and when I told her we were going to a magic show she gave me one of those “you have got to be kidding me?!” faces before she rolled her eyes. I did my best to reassure her that it was going to be way better than any other magic show, but she was still a cynic. Let’s just say by the end of the night she would not stop talking about how cool he was and how she wanted him to be her best friend and do magic all day long! Mission accomplished :)

David, renowned Magic Castle magician, opened the show by walking on stage, and before even introducing himself, he made a bowling ball fall out of a notepad. Insane!

He followed by a couple of not so common card tricks, a few coin appearing and disappearing acts and then acted with participant interaction. He made on young lady’s license fly in midair. He found an empty 7-Up can that had been crushed and thrown away and he proceeded to decrush the can, reseal it and then open it to reveal that there was now soda in the can…and poured it into a glass for a front row audience member to enjoy.

David specializes in what he calls “up-close magic” which helps to make cynics believe. He does his tricks so close to the viewers that it is literally impossible for anyone to see how he manipulated anything! After a few more “ooohs” and “aaaawwws” David took a little magic break to play some acoustic guitar before his grand finale.

Minkin had the audience start to golf clap and snap to simulate the sound of light rainfall. He then suggested that we all become a little bit more aggressive in our rain sound making. As we did so, David made water droplets fall from his hands. His BARE, UNALTERED hands. As you can see from the picture, an audience member was called on stage to bare witness and assure everyone else that he did not have some water rig, or spout up his sleeve. And sure enough, the young man’s face tells all. Steadily flowing drops of water would just formulate in his hands and he would pour them into the vase he had on the table- UNREAL!
